Bathhhouse Row
From left to right: Bathhouse Row Emporium, Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center, and the Hot Springs National Park administration office. (In case you were wondering, there are still two bathhouses in operation here along Bathhouse Row – the Quapaw Baths and Spa and the Buckstaff Bath House. I was only in town for one night and didn’t have time to check them out, but I am sure they are lovely places. And if you don’t feel visiting a bathhouse or an emporium, you could always try the Superior Bathhouse Brewery. I DID manage to go there – there’s always time for a nice craft beer…)
You may be wondering if it’s “bathhouse” or “bath house.” My extensive research indicates that the answer is “yes.” I am happy to have been of assistance.

Pancakes came with instructions
The side of plate-sized pancakes was delivered by the home-town waitress, who also dropped some knowledge about the correct (and tidy) way to eat them.
She said, “Cut a hole in the middle, hon, and pour your syrup right there. That’ll keep it from runnin’ off the plate into your lap.”
It seemed like valuable information, and I am more than happy to pass it along to you.

Standpipe
I know for sure that this is a standpipe*. Mostly because it says so, right there in plain sight. (Although to be fair, I’ve missed a lot of things that were also right there in plain sight, so that’s not a guarantee that I’ll see it.)
But besides that, look at those mortar joints. And that wavy shadow! It was a plethora o’ stuff to see.

*How about that very lengthy Wikipedia article? Aren’t you just exhausted from all that reading?
Bubbles
We used to have a cat named Balboa; she was very cat-like, in the sense that she didn’t really care for people, and only wanted to be petted on her own terms, and spent a lot of time hiding somewhere. I believe she could have been described as “dour.”
My little granddaughter re-named the cat, calling her Bubbles. It was pretty funny, since the name implied the exact opposite of the cat’s personality, and we sort of changed the cat’s name on the spot. (Which probably made her even more dour.) Poor Bubbles/Balboa went off to kitty heaven last year, but as soon as I saw this odd window display, I was immediately reminded of her and that new name.
