A misty night and closed-for-the-night shops combined in a way that caught my attention.
And you know for sure that I liked it better this way than if it had been full of people cluttering up the place!

Week of Randomness: Fenceline
For reasons that were inexplicable and non-negotiable I decided that a driving trip from Lubbock to Denver would not include a single mile driven on a Interstate highway.
It takes me practically forever to get anywhere anyway (because: photography). Add that to the driving conditions (not all the roads were paved, for example), and I think our travel speed was somewhere in the covered-wagon range.
But I saw this.

Week of Randomness: …and so the day begins
Hello, and welcome to day three in the Week of Randomness!
Of course, if you’ve been here very long you’ve probably figured out that my main photographic principal is to look around back.
Another one (that I should use a lot more often) is to get there early.
Getting there early – while the vendors were still setting up – was how I was able to get a people-less shot of the Pike Place Market in Seattle.

Week of Randomness: Almost Nothing
Santa Rosa, New Mexico, is one of my favorite subjects. It’s got a very nice array of falling-down buildings and out-of-businesses and interesting cemeteries.
On this particular visit, it also had birds. Lots and lots of them, all flying at once from under the canopy at an abandoned gas station. I made quite a few attempts to catch them in flight, and there was nothing good about any of them.
When I was working on my posts for the Week of Randomness, though, this minimalist image caught my attention.

Week of Randomness: 2 Boats
I usually try to keep a week or so ahead with blog posts. Lately, though, I’ve been in the middle of a big project at my real job* and there hasn’t been time to get out and make photos to feed these posts. And I’m having internet issues at the house**. And, I am barely able to stay a half-hour ahead of the blog.
So, in a bit of desperation, I dug some stuff out of the archives, things that for whatever reason didn’t make the cut the first time around. I am calling it the Week of Randomness, and the first one is from my 2015 trip to Nova Scotia.

*I know it may be hard to believe that blogging is not actually my real job. But it’s not: I have a whole other gig that has a paycheck and benefits and an office and Important Projects with irrevocable deadlines. In other words, the exact opposite of the blog situation.
**The main issue is that the internet is no longer working.
