Toward the end, his wardrobe dwindled

Inside an abandoned house, a dead man’s wardrobe hangs, gathering dust and shedding usefulness.

I’m gone the rest of the week, doing this, which to be honest about it, makes me pretty nervous! But, anyway, leave comments and I’ll reply when I get home.

Sorrows Gather Around

The little oil towns are either doing great or they are about to die, depending on the oil market. Every boom seems like it will last, but of course they never do. And the busts hit hard every single time.

The current bust has hit Sundown so hard that it’s eliminated EMS services and closed the library and the swimming pool just to try to meet the (reduced) budget. It reminds me of this song, by James McMurtry, which unfortunately continues to be true, even many years after he wrote it.

Got a comment? I’d love to hear it, and will respond when I’m back from a little bit of a break.

Employee Break Room

A loading dock inside a parking garage doesn’t look like the most relaxing spot for an employee break room, does it?

Aside from the usual things that I liked here – the grittiness, the bounced light, and etc. – the other thing I really was happy to see was that outdated Holiday Inn sign. I like it much better than the new H logo.

I’m away…but of course I’d love to hear from you. I promise I’ll reply as soon as I can.

A need remains unfulfilled

So many questions here, and no apparent answers.

On a recent photo prowl through downtown Canyon, Texas, this grid of gridded windows caught my attention.

And also, I can’t decide if the door’s short or the doorknob’s too high. Either way, it looks…odd.
