Information from Data USA says that various manufacturing businesses in Raceland employ a total of 604 people; I guess some of them work over there at the place with the plumes rising to meet the clouds.
(Also, the photo behind the statistical information shows a scene from the French Quarter in New Orleans, which IS NOT anything like what you’ll see in Raceland. FYI.)

Let there be…lamps
Four years after I made this shot, my memory of the exact sequence of events is a little less than clear. However, I am making an educated guess that this was what happened:
- We drove through town.
- I saw this window display.
- Two blocks later, I said to the Patient Spouse, “You’ll need to turn around.”
And you know the rest…

Laundry Day
My mom told me one time that her Aunt Debbie had a technique where she’d fold a fitted sheet as she was taking it down from the clothesline. I can barely fold one that’s in a pile on the bed and warm from the dryer.
But, anyway, I saw laundry on the line nearly every day of our trip to Nova Scotia.
