I really do like the contrast between the shiny lodging shown on the billboard and the raggedy building below it.

We’re always looking for the next shiny thing, I guess.

    • I think the ad was for a thing known in our vernacular as a “man camp” – workforce lodging for people who work in the oilfields or on wind turbines. There are so many of those workers that the regular housing options in these little towns can’t support the demand. (Last fall two of my co-workers and I – all women – ended up eating lunch at one of those places. It was an…experience. We were the only women in the place, other than a few employees. I’m pretty sure we looked like sex workers rather than loyal employees of a non-profit agency. We still talk about it.)
