The Way Alice Left It
Based on the refrigerator magnets still in place at this abandoned farmhouse, a woman named Alice once lived here. I don’t know when she left, or why. All I know is that the house was full of what her life had been.

Not really – the house was almost covered with overgrown (or dead) trees and tall weeds. And when I was there, it wasn’t quite cold enough to drive the snakes into hibernation, so I hesitated about stomping through their weedy habitat…
