Thank you, Oklahoma, for showing us which direction the horizon goes. I mean, I’m used to seeing it, but I bet those New England photographers I was traveling with appreciated the assistance.

Normal travelers seeking a route between Cheyenne and Caspar would take Interstate 25, which would take about two and a half hours.

And that is the complete explanation of our route of choice, a desolate and meandering path that added roughly an hour to the drive. But we got to see this. (And we skipped the boring interstate.)

Two-track Way

It was extremely difficult for us to make any forward progress while driving around the Palouse: every single road that took off from the highway promised views like this. And every one of them that we didn’t drive on felt like a million missed opportunities.
