The Gist

Why, yes. That graffiti is exactly what you think it is.

Spillway

The other Saturday morning, I headed out with the idea that I’d go to a Corvette show that I’d seen advertised. (One of my photography goals for the year is to push myself to photograph things I’d normally overlook, or flat-out ignore.) But it was a foggy morning, so before I went to see the Corvettes, I decided to visit the Dunbar Historical Lake Park. And while I was there, I walked out on the spillway to see what that looked like. And guess what? It looked a whole lot like this.

Silly String, in the wind

Here’s a recipe:
1. Take one teenager.
2. Add a can of Silly String.
3. Mix in a little wind (or, if you are here in Lubbock, just use the ambient wind).
4. Using a slightly slower shutter speed, take a photo.

Result: nice waves of Silly String, that never hit their intended target.

Out/Field

This? Oh, just a little something that I spotted behind the baseball field the other day – it was a day when I was in the photography zone, and most things I saw looked like a photo. I love days like that.

All the new pandemic graves, 2

Another drone image from the cemetery, where the rough brown dirt, and a plywood cover, speak to the community’s pandemic losses. And to all the families whose dinner tables, holidays, plans, and memories have been forever altered.
