The days of a sparkling pool were over

The Patient Spouse and I had a long-ish conversation about the best way to describe that awful-looking water in the swimming pool.

He won: he said it looked like molasses.

No Point

That door seems to be, at best, sort of pointless.

The other day I couldn’t think of anything to photograph, so I consulted a little pink Moleskine book where I used to keep a running list of places I wanted to shoot, hoping for an idea. This old hotel wasn’t listed specifically, but the general part of town it’s in was, so the Patient Spouse and I headed out. It was a real treasure, photographically speaking. (I hope you agree, as this is the first of eight images form the place…) (Don’t say I didn’t warn you.)

Be the Change

The thing with Dallas is that not many things have a chance to look old – like that new construction right there across from the graffiti place. (In fact, it’s been nearly a year since I went to the graffiti place, and now I’m wondering if it’s even still there. You know what that means, don’t you? Yes – a road trip!)

Graffiti Gate, Dallas

My friend Adolfo often serves as my location scout, and he told me about this place in Dallas where there’s graffiti everywhere. Even on a gate, as it turns out.

Icy Berm

The east side of the landscaping berm is covered with bulbs that have emerged from their winter below ground. And, on Tuesday, the plants, the berm, and the rest of the yard were covered with ice.

Maybe I’ve mentioned it previously, but I really just don’t like cold weather. I get worse about it every year, too; right now I don’t even like going to the north side of town because I fear it’ll be colder up there.  But that layer of ice on the plants was lovely and, thinking of my loyal reader(s) as always, I braved the bitter temperatures* to get this shot.

*Yes. Bitter, bitter temperatures. (31 degrees, if you have to know.)
