Coffee (night)

A couple of days ago, I mentioned going early to the Arcade Restaurant to avoid the lines. Another pro tip regarding the place is to get a hotel room across the street so you can monitor the line from your window.

I listened through the cemetery trees

Hello, and welcome to Random Music Reference Day. We here at One Day | One Image are the first ones to acknowledge that our brain works in a weird way and that random music lyrics will often attach themselves to certain images. Sometimes the lyrics-photo connection may make sense to, well, normal people. Other times, the link is obscure, at best. But the brain wants what the brain wants – I have no control over it.

And so, here we go, with listening through the cemetery trees, a line from “One Headlight” by the Wallflowers.

Counter Seating (breakfast)

Pro Tip: if you want breakfast at the Arcade Restaurant, get there just before they open so you’re in the first wave to get in. Otherwise, it’ll be a bit of a wait. I’m not saying it’s not worth the wait – because it is – I’m just mentioning in to help you manage your time. And, given the option, you know it’s always better to get counter seating because you get to watch all the stuff that’s going on. (Sadly, I did not have that option.)

Pattern, repeated

Sometimes when I see buildings with elements that I don’t quite understand, I’ll say, “I guess it looked better on paper.” And that’s what I said to myself when I first saw that decorative (?) thing on the front of the building. But then, I noticed the industrial architecture behind it and could see certain patterns repeated in both things. So maybe the architect designed the decorative thing as an homage to the industrial thing.

One Dozen Sandbags

In addition to trying to always look around back, I also try to look down alleyways. And this is why: how else would I have ever noticed a dozen sandbags?
