there used to be a grocery store
Of course the grocery store has closed. That’s, sadly, a common thing in these rural towns out here.
They’re replaced by nothing or by convenience stores or by dollar stores, none of which completely fill the gap, but all of which contribute to the rise of food deserts.

The pastor over at Evans Chapel gets to park right there in front of the church, which is probably pretty convenient on a busy Sunday.

For a couple of strange reasons, I had a strong desire to photograph this town on a cloudy day. I waited about a month for clouds to show up and then (bonus!) I got rain, too.

I sure enjoy finding disused municipal buildings with the dashed dreams, the obsolescence, the broken windows, the non-operational signage, the random tridents….
