If you commit to driving old Route 66 and you stumble upon a guidebook about that very thing and you have that book with you when you take the old road across New Mexico and you carefully follow the directions, you’ll find the old route turning under the current Interstate, making a pair of tunnels that don’t seem at all remote and murdery.

a lens as old as I am
I just purchased my first vintage lens, a Wetzler Hektor 135mm f4.5. I chose that one for my first vintage lens because I didn’t already have a 135mm and because it was affordable. But mostly, I got it because that lens and I are the same age.
My favorite lens is a Leica Summicron 28mm f2.0; I shoot with it almost all the time and my brain is having a hard time getting used to how much closer things are when viewed at 135mm. But it’s good for my brain to have to learn something new, even if it is as old as a vintage lens!

enforcer
This looks like a store that would have been fun to wander around in, what with the wallpaper and paints and whatever else they stocked. I was by there on a Sunday and assumed it was out of business. I mean – look at the place! Imagine my surprise when, just this very minute, when I was researching this post, that I found it online and discovered that it’s actually open six days a week (although just until noon on Saturday).
Obviously, I will need to go back to St. Louis on not a Sunday to check it out. I’ll let you know what I find…

fancy curtains
The Pink Elephant Antique mall is located in what used to be a high school; I didn’t go inside the mall but I did walk around it to see what was hiding from general view. And that’s how I spotted this door with some fancy lace curtains on it.
I don’t generally self-identify as being a person who’s dismayed by disorder, but will tell you right now that the lace going in different directions on those doors makes me feel very anxious. What kind of monster DOES that?
