the general

This photo was made in 2017, and even then it felt like dollar stores were everywhere.

But that was nothing compared to how it is now.

Many small towns don’t have real grocery stores any more, just dollar stores without produce or fresh meat, but with plenty of shelf-stable stuff that’s over processed and unhealthy. Oh, and runaway yellow carts all over the place.

reservoirs of death

I was looking back through a batch of old pictures that were taken on two different trips to the Acadian parishes of Louisiana; there were a lot of images that were…not good. I like to think that in the ten years since I made those trips, I’ve learned a thing or two about photography, and maybe I have.

This starts a series of Louisiana images, all of which are edited in not my normal style – some times I feel like branching out.

Anyway, here’s a mausoleum that I found in a place called Mowata.

well, this is frightening

There is one thing I strongly believe and that is if the word “escape” is written on the way in to a sketchy building, there is very little chance of your making an actual escape.

So be careful….

pollination

Just one more thing I learned by looking at the ground….until 2022, I didn’t even know that pollination services were a thing.

one drop can start a flood

An allegory:

It was just a drop. One drop.

There were drops before it; since I didn’t see them, it’s like they never happened. And there were surely unseen drops that follow, but they didn’t count either. At the time.

But then, before I even knew what was happening, the seen drop and all the unseen ones came together and there was a flood. Damage is still being tallied.
