LotLotLot (for sale)

Of course, when this town was settled and named Mecca, it was a name with great connotations, with grand visions of a beautiful life beside a thriving inland sea.

Now it seems sort of an ironic name.

But there ARE lots and lots of lots for sale.

Skeleton

Yes, I was very happy when our photography group leader not only drove us past this skeleton of an agriculture building, but then pulled off the road so we could photograph it. And my thanks to everyone else in the group who may not have been quite as giddy as I was, but were too polite to tell me they rather be anyplace else.

in bottles

Goodness – there was a lot going on with that one vending machine. It had a water fountain! You use it at your own risk! The Cokes cost a dime! And they came in bottles!

Keith, ready to dance

Our fantastic tour leader Keith Skelton, posing in the doorway of a place that promised dancing and cocktails.

Sadly, we were not able to enjoy either one, as the place had been gutted by a fire. But it was OK: even for a photographer as talented as Keith, it’s gotta be hard to dance AND drink AND make photos all at the same time.
