We saw these gentlemen sitting outside, rewiring a light fixture. And like nearly everyone we encountered in Sicily, they were more than happy to have a chat with us, even though there wasn’t a common language.

I drove all the way from Lubbock to Hobbs so I could take this photo.

(I also ate some delicious posole for lunch and did a little shopping. Oh, I looked at the annular eclipse.)

There’s not a lot in Vaughn, New Mexico, but the stuff that’s there is the stuff I like to photograph. And finding this shot from 2019 reminds me that I need to get back over there.

lunch rush

This place had a rack where the locals left their personal coffee cups for quick access to their morning caffeine. For some reason, that made me feel a little wistful, like somehow I was missing out by not having a regular coffee place.

It’s weird how things hit places you don’t even know exist…
