X-ray vision

I first photographed this building back in 2013, and I posted shots of a very messy room and of an abandoned refrigerator. But I didn’t go inside.

Now, though, I’m bolder than I was five years ago, and on a return visit to Colorado City I just walked right on in. And found this treasure in a back room.

*OK. So it was actually the evening light rail to the Fannin South Transit Center, 30 minutes away. But still.

Reclaim

Well, sure, the sign SAYS “reclaim” but my feeling is that the place may be past that option.

“I am very fond of the out-of-business sign on the door, and the way it takes on a sort of beat-poet vibe,” the photographer said as she snapped her fingers and yearned for a beret.

Fancy Ketchup

After a trip to Nebraska, my friend Andy wrote the first two lines of a poem about the state:

God bless Nebraska, where everyone is nice.
God bless Nebraska, where ketchup is a spice.

What I don’t know is if Nebraska has actual Fancy Ketchup, the way this recently-departed Dairy Queen did.
