Isaack

I had dinner in this place last month. The server was surly and the food was (at best) marginal. But neither of those things mattered because of this wonderful sign. And the fact that even though it was dark outside and sign was not lighted made it even more perfect.

Four Doors

This place used to be a motel. This must have been the low-rent section, because the other part had carports next to the rooms; that’s a nice touch if you need to leave your car outside in a Texas summer.

But the arrangements of four doors and four windows was quite pleasing.

Lunch

092215

We’d come prepared for a picnic lunch on our way back home from San Antonio, thanks to a conveniently-located grocery store. Since it was on Labor Day, we thought the city park would be crowded. But it wasn’t; perhaps the heat (almost 100 degrees) and the humidity (almost 100 percent*) kept rational people inside.

But that gave us our choice of picnic table.

*By “100 percent” I probably mean “somewhere around 40 percent.” I am completely unreliable.
