always, she gazes toward the sea

This stone Madonna spends her days gazing toward the sea, which is fewer than five miles away.

My in-laws used to live very close to this place, but in all our trips there we’d never stopped in at the church. I took advantage of proximity while on the Patient Spouse’s recent Nostalgia Tour 2019, and was finally able to see the interior. It was lovely.

The Gig

I found the guitar cases that the wandering mariachis stashed during their shift.

Bu the main thing is that I can’t even think about this restaurant without thinking about Lyle Lovett’s masterful rhyme in his song “San Antonio Girl.”

Well it was late by then
We should have turned it in
But she was hungry
And I was interested
In Mi Tierra’s
Huevos Rancheros
We took some Polaroids
Right at the table

I mean, really – rhyming “Mi Tierra’s” and “Huevos Rancheros.” Genius.

Sink (a dream)

It felt like a dream even though it wasn’t. At least I don’t think it was…

Hose

I went around behind the cemetery’s statues, as I do, because that’s where I get to find things like this water hose coiled on the ground.
