I’ve been to Marathon a lot, but this was the first time I spotted this abandoned cattle pen. It was built from heavy timbers, and clearly intended to last. Which it did: it evidently outlasted the cattle industry out here.
Apparently the clandestine-message industry is still going strong, which I guess is good to know.

Shopping Cart
It’s the same, always, unless it’s different.
This year, a red shopping cart was a nice addition.
But that train (which was there for at least two days) blocked the view of the mountains.

Beer. Makes. Smart
One of my regular stops when I’m in the area. Every year there is something different to see. One of the things that caught my attention this time was the sticker-covered post out in front.

Stock Tank and the Cathedral Mountains
I’m not tall enough to get the shot I wanted, so I made this one by holding the camera as high above my head as I could reach and shooting it blind.
Just over to my left, a very large steer stood in the shade, watching the procedures. And off in the distance, the Cathedral Mountains.
It’s hard to think of anyplace I rather be than right here.
