My friends are very good at being location scouts for me, and frequently I get advice from them about places they think I should visit. For at least a year now one of them has been telling me that I needed to deviate from my usual Lubbock-to-Santa Fe route to check out this town.

I finally took her advice, and hit the jackpot, photographically speaking.

Dennis Hopper was nearby

Our traveling companions were keen to find Dennis Hopper’s grave, which is not all that easily accomplished. But we stuck it out, and eventually located it.

In the meantime, there was this fantastic view of the mountains north of us.

Blades

Of course I stopped beside the road to photograph a trainload of wind-turbine blades. You’d’ve done the same.

Carpenter saint in his niche

I like this guy – he seems content with his niche-based existence. But I am not sure why those rocks are lined up to watch him work.
