The end of this place

Back in March 2013, I posted some photos of an abandoned small-town motel, Crider’s Motel, in Johnson City, Texas. One of the blog posts was titled “Crider’s Motel may be past its prime.”

Time passed. I never went back to Johnson City to see what was going on.

Then, on November 21, I had a comment on one of those posts from Sandra Trevino, who said, “The Crider motel was torn down today. It was a blast from the past.”

And sure enough, it was. Here’s the newspaper article about it. And here, bordered in black because I’m sad the place is gone, are those images from 2013:

Behind the Marker

Not only do I like to look behind things, I get a strange satisfaction in seeing the details of assembly. In this case, I was drawn to those twisted wires, in different colors, with those strange leggy ends poking in different directions.

Light Wedge

I just don’t think you can beat a nighttime view of a parking garage, with all that light bouncing around and making those cool wedge shapes.

Instead of Trees

So, instead of trees, we’ve got light standards. Lots and lots of them. They’re OK, I guess, but their fall foliage is sort of…lacking.

Mom’s Place

Am I just worrying about the wrong things here, but do you think Mom might not particularly have appreciated her Place using a pig as a logo/mascot?
