an agrarian society

Just across a dry and sticker-infested field from yesterday’s boat picture is a little church with the world’s saddest playground next to it. Just to cite one example of how dismal it is, this hobby horse is the best thing there. And it feels like it’s trying to get away from a crime scene.

play/ground (with tree)

If this centrifugal force death machine somehow fails at its job, there are about a million stickers in the grass and they are ready to take over.

Playgrounds! So much fun! So much danger!!

The user, typically a child

On an overcast morning, a well-used and well-polished slide caught my photographer’s eye. I won’t tell you how many kids I had to chase away so I could get this shot.

Oh, you know what? Yes, I will tell you: none. There were only two kids at the park, and they were someplace else.

Newest thing in town

100816

I am not actually certain that this playground equipment was the newest thing in town, but my quick visual inspection indicated that it might be.

Also – in case you’re planning a visit and want to fit in – the town’s pronounced “Medda.” Really. I’m not setting you up for ridicule or anything. That’s how we talk out here.
