Tobias was many things

Tobias – hijo, hermano, tio, y artista – must be missed by many people.

gold + opals

And here is an example of the kind of jewelry that I would never, for even the tiniest slice of a second, think about wearing.

And here is also an example of the kind of jewelry that I will definitely photograph.

train depot, restroom

If you think it’s weird that I am always watchful for photogenic things in restrooms, maybe this colorful scene from a small train station will change your mind.

Or, maybe it’ll just be further evidence that I am weird.

It could be both of these things, actually, now that I think about it.

trash/stairway

San Antonio’s famed Riverwalk is below street level, which adds some interest to walking around. If you get really lucky, you can see the street-level entrance to a bar or restaurant and at the same time spot the river-level back stairs where last night’s trash awaits collection.

In this case, I was looking at the back stairs to Dick’s Last Resort while standing next to the street-level doorway; a little bit later that same morning, when I was on the river, a man setting up tables for Dick’s L. R. called my attention to cat that was stalking a couple of ducks*. That was a nice bit of coincidental symmetry.

*The ducks escaped a feline-induced end when the cat ran away. In case you were worried.

alley, with bird

I will always look down an alley. And I will generally photograph it, especially if there happens to be a cooperative bird in the vicinity.
