passing airport time, #1
It is not even possible for me to be bored at an airport, as long as I’ve got a camera.
I passed time the other day at the Albuquerque airport testing out (or, really, playing with) a Zeiss 21mm lens that my friend David loaned to me. And this is what it saw.

the grasses lie fallow
It’s sort of easy to think all the plants in desert areas are spiky and out to injure you. I mean – there ARE a lot of them that are sort of stabby (Hello? Agave? Looking at you, bud.) so I get it.
But then, there are some grasses that are soft and feathery, even when they are dormant.

I can’t imagine ever being bored as long as I’ve got a camera handy.
And as long as I’ve got a camera I’m set when I spot a scene like this…and I sure am glad that gentleman went with the yellow shoes!

This is one of the times that what I thought the photo was going to be about – a steamy coffee shop window – turned into being about the man’s hands and the way their position echos the way his feet are placed.
It just goes to show…something.

station dogs
It seems odd now to think back on the times – which weren’t that long ago – when I just didn’t take pictures of people. I had no interest in it and would actively avoid scenes that were tainted by humans (and/or dogs).
Obviously, I have gotten over that and being in busy urban environments with my camera in hand is actually something that I enjoy a great deal. And a Saturday afternoon at a busy train station was the perfect location to get some images with people in them…
