Sky Hook
I used to know a structural engineer who was a nice enough fellow, but he had sort of a bias against architects: he was convinced that none of them understood just HOW structures stood up. He often said they relied on “sky hooks” to hold up their designs. Of course, “sky hooks” aren’t even a real thing…
…or are they? Because this looks exactly like a hook, hanging from the sky. And that makes it a sky hook, right?

The end of Sears: shoes
Sears was nearly gone for good and not much merchandise was left over. But, somehow, even at 80% off these shoes hadn’t sold. A retail mystery, I suppose.

The end of Sears: clothes
Our local Sears store closed at the beginning of 2019; during the last few weeks it was open, I went there often to photograph the ever-diminishing inventory. At first, I made the Patient Spouse go with me to provide cover, in case the employees weren’t too keen on wandering photographers. What I learned from that was that if your job at Sears is disappearing in a matter of days, you really don’t care one bit if wandering photographers are on the premises. So, the Patient Spouse got to stay home while I wandered.

Not Responsible
Sometimes if I feel like taking photos but don’t quite know where to go, I’ll head to the nearby town of Littlefield, where I can almost always find enough subjects to fill up my time.
On my most recent visit, I looked through the windows of the out-of-business dry cleaners and was nicely rewarded with an assortment of junk. And some shirts, way back in the back, that I guess will never be reunited with their owner(s).
