The Posers
What’s happening? Yesterday my post had a half of a person in it, and today there are two whole people. Wow. Believe me, I am as surprised by this as you are.
I sat in this spot for a while, watching a steady stream of people perch on that stone ledge to have their photo taken. Most of them were in poses similar to the one here, which made me start to wonder how they all know that’s The One Right Way To Sit – is there a guidebook or something?
But these two had an added value, of a sort, with the photo-taker also striking a pose.

Booths are going
Does your town have one of those restaurants that no matter what kind of eatery is there, just never seem to make it? This place is just around the corner from my office and in ten years, it’s been at least five different restaurants. And it’s been a vacant building more often than it’s been anything else.
The most recent iteration was called “Kiss My Grits” because nothing says “keeping up with modern food trends” mor than using the catch-phrase of a TV show from the 1970s. It was terrible. The restaurant, I mean. (Also, the TV show. But that’s neither here nor there.)
But something’s happening over there – the other week all the booths and furniture were piled up out in the parking lot.
I’ll let you know when the next place goes under…

Jamaica Season
Jamaica: not just a country!
Catholic Churches around here (maybe other places, too? Help me out, reader(s)!) host these fundraising events. There’s usually food and contests and music. By now, you’ve missed this one in Lorenzo, but you can mark your calendar for next year.

PS – It’s pronounced as a Spanish word, with an “h” sound standing in for the “j” and the accent on the first syllable.
