And what was that building?

I’m pretty sure it was a beer store.
For ages and ages, package alcohol sales weren’t permitted inside the city limits and, as a result, there were a lot of liquor stores out on the edge of town. When the law (finally!!) changed and we could buy our booze RIGHT HERE IN TOWN like grownups, the old stores out in the country went out of business.
