murder clown is on the move
Y’all: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS GOING ON HERE?
My good friend (and outstanding photographer) R. David Marks took a photo of this clown several years ago, only the clown was further back in the store. At some point, he (it?) crept closer to that shelf of meat grinders. I fear what might happen next…
Also, if you’re interested in the calendar (on the right, past the potential carnage equipment), it’s from 1977.

color range
The place was in a bit of disrepair but the colors were nice.
This block of Douglas Avenue has – in addition to this scene – two pretty good places to eat – Charlie’s Spic Bakery and Span Café (huevos rancheros!) and Dick’s Pub and Restaurant (posole!!). In case you are about to start making travel plans or whatever…

fire/bug
I would have preferred for the church to have been unlocked.
But since it wasn’t, I had to resort to my familiar shoot-through-the-window-and-see-what’s-there technique. In this case it was a glass candleholder, with a bugged-topped candle.

over/hang
It is either family tradition or state law that any time we go through Santa Rosa, New Mexico, we have to stop at the Blue Hole, a locally-famous place where you can go scuba diving. (Yes. In the middle of New Mexico.)
“Someone” has a strong need to stand by the water and gaze upon it, sigh heavily, offer (probably unsolicited) observations to anyone else standing there, and otherwise wax nostalgic for those long-ago scuba days (which were as recent as last year, but whatever).
During this ritual (or legal requirement) I go to the restroom. And this is what the building looks like.
