Deserts and…color?
Since August 2012, I have posted almost nothing but black and white images here at One Day | One Image. It wasn’t any sort of planned thing, but that’s just what felt right.
But there’s just something about Santa Rosa that makes me think color is the way to go.
First, there was this – with color.
Then, we had this – with color.
And, now this one. But, to be honest, how could I not post this in color? I’d lose those fantastic lavender columns….

My (current) favorite town
Here’s another shot of this building.
It’s also the same place where I found some rectangles, a slightly disturbing sign, #4 in the White on White series, and a steam laundry.
Colorado City: my favorite town.

7Up
This is sort of a companion to an earlier post, from another town, called “Business Route” is optimistic. In this case, the “business route” is Interstate 20J Business.
Not much going on here. But I do like the 7Up sign on the wall.

Tower Drug, and car racing
Another view of Uhland, just steps away from where I found this trailer.
I am sort of digging Uhland. For one thing, the place was named for a poet.
And also because of the last sentence of the town’s history, offered simply, without detail: Club 21 was burned down due to a car racing accident in 2012.

“Business route” is optimistic
It’s the same story: once the interstate came through, all the little businesses along what is now optimistically called the business route began to fade. Here there are several miles of abandoned gas stations, truck stops, restaurants, and other buildings whose previous life is now indeterminable.
It’s a sad sight.
Unless I see it: then it’s a town full of opportunities.
