Hymnals, with dust

“It’s open – you just got to turn the knob real hard to the left,” a kindly woman hollered at me from her house across the street.

And that’s how I got to see these hymnals.

Quite a few opportunities

If you happen to be in Nashville and find yourself in a church-going mood, I’d like to suggest this place, as it has many opportunities available all through the week.

Bethel, coming and going

Here’s a two-way sign for a little country church on top of a hill.

Also: it did require a u-turn to get back to it. And also: it took me about five miles of driving to decide that I didn’t want to pass up a chance to photograph the church (and sign). Sometimes I make a u-turn decision right away, and other times it takes a few minutes to decide. And also, one more time: I can’t recall a time that I’ve ever made a u-turn, gotten back to the place, and decided that it wasn’t worth a photograph after all.

Swept Away

This was a nice sight: a broom, an industrial-size dustpan, and one footprint.

without faith (a diptych)

I’d been by this abandoned church before, and even stopped once. For reasons that I don’t comprehend, I decided to pull off the road the other day and have another look at it. The door was open so I had a look inside – and this diptych shows a couple of the things that caught my attention.
