she is standing right in front of me
Hello and welcome to another Random Song Lyric Day here at the blog.
Today’s lyric (that I heard in my head when I made the photo) is from Let It Be:
When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Grandness
If you’ve heard of Shiner, Texas, you’ve probably heard of it because of beer*.
But there’s also quite a dramatic church. As I made my photos, I could hear murmured conversation from…somewhere. Maybe it was the priest and a parishioner or two. Or maybe it was the brother saints for whom the church is named. Or maybe the priest and the brother saints were discussing things that needed discussing. I’ll never know.

*In college, Shiner was the cheapest beer available. Since then, it’s reinvented itself, which is great, so now there are better reasons than “it’s really cheap” to purchase it. However, I am not sure I can get on board with their current offering of Shiner S’more Chocolate and Marshmallow Ale…
the light of the world
I first visited this place in May, and a return trip so soon seemed sort of redundant: I wasn’t sure there would be any new photographic opportunities. But still, we were in the area and it seemed silly to not stop.
This shot was – I thought – about the light on the wall between those two pews. And then, Photoshop helped me to see that it was really about the weird sunlight on the left side, radiating outward from the statue and crucifix. (This is the second blog appearance by the statue.)
