she is standing right in front of me

Hello and welcome to another Random Song Lyric Day here at the blog.

Today’s lyric  (that I heard in my head when I made the photo) is from Let It Be:

When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be

Ascending to the mystery

It was late afternoon when we arrived here, and the low sun was leaning through the windows, deepening the shadows. And the mystery.

The Eye of God

Yes, the (electronic) eye of God watches everyone who enters the church.

These breathing shadows

This image brought to mind the same song I referenced yesterday, Celestial Horses by Bruce Cockburn (of course!). The specific lines this calls up are:

Even at the heart of these breathing shadows
You can feel us gathering at the door

“but the Light comes pounding through”

I think this is my favorite photo I made inside the church – I’m always a fan of stained glass and how it manipulates the light passing through it.

And you know how sometimes things I see remind me of (usually random) song lyrics? This time it was the line “and the Light comes bounding through” from Bruce Cockburn’s song “Celestial Horses.” Give it a listen. If you want.
