arms full of jesus

I really can’t understand why I actively avoided doing street photography for a really long time. But I guess I got to it when my brain was ready. Or whatever.

At any rate, here’s a woman I saw in downtown El Paso last month. She and Jesus were out taking a bit of a stroll and they were kind enough to pause for 1/480th of a second.

dome (reflection)

The Paseo del Norte Hotel has the best bar I’ve ever seen: there’s a 45′ diameter glass dome in the ceiling, which from a certain angle you can see reflected in a piano.

There’s no reason to take my word for it: go on over to El Paso and see for yourself!

Well, that’s something I won’t un-see.

discomforting

For some reason, I have the idea that these fishnets would be particularly uncomfortable in the, uh, southern region. It’d only cost a buck and a half to find out, but I think I’ll save some money and just go with my initial assumption.

You’d be surprised (maybe) at how much traffic noise a simple fountain can cancel. This place was right on the corner of two busy streets and the water falling from that ledge into a basin make it all just go away. Plus, what an excellent way to reuse shipping containers! (Now I want one of these in my front yard to cancel out sounds of the motorcycle people across the street who seem to get home about 2:00 every morning…)
