soft flower in a red sunset

It didn’t seem like the sunset was going to be anything spectacular. But then the sky was gold and yellow and red and there were mammatus clouds.

And yucca flowers, bathed in the surreal light.

These yucca don’t bloom like this every year – but when they do, they are just spectacular.

the morning yucca

I took some time the other Saturday morning to explore my own town; it paid off handsomely because not only did I discover an excellent coffee place, but there were some exuberant yucca flowers out in front.

And this reminds me that when I was a kid, I’d eat these flowers, which could surely explain some things.

It was curtains for this place

It was apparent that this place was no longer in use, which made those curtains that much sadder, somehow.

And look! Even more yucca.

The Yucca Field

I suppose there is a good reason for a field of yucca to flourish, when all the surrounding spots are largely yucca-free. It’s just that I don’t know what it is.

(Here’s what I DO know: pants and/or snake boots would have been a less scratchy option than my skort-and-Converse outfit.) (And on a completely unrelated note, does anyone know where I could purchase snake boots?)
