If you’ve been around my work for more than say 10 to 13 minutes, you know that I photograph a lot of abandoned places. Rarely do I get bad vibes at a location…but this place (the place in the trees, I mean – not the mailboxes) felt very creepy to me. It was almost to the level that I call Murder House. And that’s why there’s just the one photo – sticking around wasn’t a thing I thought I needed to do. You know, in case it WAS a Murder House.

That gentleman’s posture and expression was all of us seeing Notre Dame for the first time.

and there came a heavenly light

That one afternoon in Paris when I stepped inside a small church, I found heavenly light right there in front of me.

a man and his dog

It was chilly that morning on the pier, and sort of halfway between drizzle and actual rain. I was struggling that day and finally gave up on the situation and the weather and went inside for coffee. It was just the break I needed, and as I turned to leave, I saw this delightful pair.

her whole heart wasn’t in it

When I’m traveling, I can happily spend airport time making photos. And, also, I like to create stories about the people I see – I’m not stalker-y or anything; I just make a few quick assumptions about them and about where they’re going and why they need to be there today. And this woman? I only saw half of her, but am pretty sure that she was only half-hearted about making that particular trip…
