tiny rivers

The only reason I saw these tiny rivers easing their way from the puddle behind them is that I sat in the drizzle and took some time to look around me. You know: just being a photographer.

night/light

Did I travel to a city and stay in an upper floor of a hotel? Yes.

Did I enjoying looking through the windows of nearby buildings at night, trying to imagine other people’s lives? Again, yes.

Did I take some photos of it? Hell, yes.

walk v. ride

I haven’t been out making new photos lately – other stuff has taken priority, etc. But luckily I have a gigantic archive of photos that I never got around to editing.

So, anyway, today kicks off a little series that I’ll call When I Went To Boston.

The way the part-of-a-person seems to be striding so confidently past the row of bikes makes me laugh and you probably know by now that if a photo makes me laugh, I’m gonna eventually post it…

dust bowl

The thing is that sometimes I can almost talk myself into thinking I can shoot from the passenger side of the car.

And the other thing is that is almost never the best solution*. For example, there’s no way to see this particular angle of the Dust Bowl unless you’re standing on the sidewalk.

*One exception: the meth-y parts of Albuquerque are not at all pedestrian-friendly.

This was the view from our vacation rental in Edinburgh. I wonder if that construction situation on the left side is finished and how soon I ought to go back to get another photo…
