Why, yes, I did wait sort of a long time until that weird disembodied hand (advertising something?) returned to the TV in the corner. It added just the right amount of “what the hell is happening here?” that I was hoping to capture.

This of course was not the only time I saw a place with signage proclaiming the place was open only to see about a million context clues that told me otherwise. But for some reason, the mixed message at this hapless place was more entertaining than any of the other ones.

sometimes patriotism is blurry
I guess this guy feels prepared for whatever it is he fears. And I am pretty sure that he wasn’t a fan of me or my camera…..

This statue, along with many of his cousins, began life as advertisements for mufflers, which I guess used to fall off of cars that were driving along Route 66. Anyway, the mufflers are gone and have been replaced by various other things, including a flag. Because why not?

One of the best parts of driving the whole of Route 66 was spotting interesting, funny, and/or weird signs.
Based on the information on this sign, I suppose there are OTHER ropin’ flamingoes that aren’t on Route 66, but that’s actually hard to imagine.
