Busy Sky
Well, here’s my obligatory comet photo.
And there are some other things going on here, too. First of all, this is the same tree from Half Dead back in 2018. And the lights on the horizon in the center of the photo are from the town of Smyer; the lights further to the left are Levelland. The pink in the low clouds is from distant lightning. And there is a plane, of course, flying below NEOWISE; further down from the plane you can see the trail of a satellite.
The sky was busy that night.

Life as an open book
I guess it felt a little bit like I was standing at a pulpit, about to deliver a sermon. Sure, the potential listeners were all dead, but I didn’t have that much of importance to say, so it didn’t really matter.

Car Park
My go-to camera is a Leica Monochrom; I’ve had it for four years and have made about 22,000 images with it so far. But as much as I love using it, there are still a few times when an image just needs to be in color. For example, any time I spot a pink plastic car parked beside a dirt road is a time that requires a color image. My go-to for color? Well, usually it’s my iPhone….

Two Cemetery Cisterns
These two crumbly concrete cisterns were the most fascinating part of this little country cemetery – I’d say one third of the photos I made here featured them. Obviously, since I was shooting late in the afternoon, I need to get back over there early in the morning, and when there’s a storm, and maybe even on a cold, clear night to get some stars. I guess my quest for a new obsession has ended….good thing it’s only a 30 minute drive from home.
