Cuban Christmas

Merry Christmas, Cuban style. (Or, if you don’t celebrate: here’s a photo from Cuba that was made in November and for some reason there was a decorated tree inside the house.)

my impression

Remember the laundry that was hanging out to dry inside an old building?

Here’s a much less literal interpretation of it – sometimes I like wandering away from my usual just-the-facts-ma’am approach and getting a little more impressionistic or artistic (or blurry!). But don’t worry: tomorrow we’ll be back in territory that’ll be a little more familiar.

everything but the kitchen sink

I *may* have followed this woman for a few blocks trying to get a shot of her new sink. I wish I’d seen the place where she purchased it – I did go into one store that was nearby and saw their section titled “quincalla” (hardware) but never made it to the section for “fregaderos de cocina” (kitchen sinks).

exhausting

This is an extremely typical street scene, with a tight mix of cars and people and streetcar tracks and motorcycles. And cobblestones and asphalt and potholes and puddles. Oh, and some exhaust fumes, too.

dancers, 6

Here’s one last look (for now, anyway) of dancers from the Dance Cuba performance that we were privileged to see.
