Spiders and Fog

Were you wondering if there are large spiders in Nova Scotia?

Yes. Yes, there are.

Lights frame the view

This place had been a church and had later been partially renovated by new owners. It seemed apparent that they’d run out of money and/or interest by the time we were there, but this little string of lights was keeping vigil.

Churchyard

A wooden church. A graveyard. A misty day.

Three of my favorite things in one place.

And then there’s that dribble of white paint….

Ascendeth

The problem is that when I’ve got non-photographers with me, I am extremely aware of the fact their interest level and mine are not even close to the same. In this case, there were three people sitting in a car while I explored the church.

And, so, even though the light would have been completely different in here in another half hour*, I ended up shooting-and-dashing, in the interest of family dynamics. Please do not mention this to my photography teachers who advocate the “compose and wait” method…

*Would it have been better? Or just different? Who knows – but it would have been a fun thing to find out.

The defense faltered

I’ve been making a lot of images lately, but they’re not ones that are bloggable just yet…as a result, I’ve been digging deep into the archives to see what might have been hiding there for, say, eight and half years.

And so that’s how I found this – a little yucca fighting an already-lost battle against the encroaching sand.
