cinderella carriage

This? Just a guy in a horse-drawn carriage in downtown San Antonio. You know, a normal thing that you see. Sometimes.

pottery + door

Even before I got this imaged framed and focused, I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like…and I wanted it to look exactly like this.

the waiting

The train station in Lamy was busier than maybe I would have expected, with a smattering of people waiting on the 12:58 train from Albuquerque. There was the stationmaster, who told me that the station was “sometimes busy.” There was a woman with a ticket to Chicago and quite a bit of luggage. And there was this guy – and when the train arrived, I saw him helping a very old woman off the train.

glass spiders

Those cracks in the window glass made me think about spiders.

Full disclosure: I was also at the beginning of a weird allergy-induced headache, so there is a very good chance it was the headache talking about spiders.

going up against chaos

I’ve been thinking about the way our eyes and brain work together to parse out a scene that’s got a lot of reflections in it, rendering a version that makes sense. But a camera doesn’t do any of that, and a scene caught by a lens stays chaotic – in a way that I am quite fond of. Especially when it involves fancy silver goblets and pedestrians.
