The nibmeister at work

I like fountain pens – they are my first choice of writing instruments.

But there are people who LOVE fountain pens. I saw a lot of them the other weekend when I went to a fountain pen show. (Yes. Those are Actual Events that many people attend.)

There were lots of vendors at the show; the most popular items seemed to be vintage pens (and vintage mechanical pencils), but there were new pens, lots of ink and paper options, and pen-specific vendors, like this gentleman. He’s a nibmeister (Yes. That is an Actual Profession) and he’s working on a custom grind on a pen nib.

Still life: an alley

Two days, two alley photos. Yep. That’s the way I roll.

it’s been a while…

It looks like it’s been a while since anyone pulled that vine off the fire escape stairs. But it adds a nice soft element in a downtown alleyway.

Pool Boy

I have been through Crosbyton about a million times and for some reason I’d never bothered to stop to photograph their municipal swimming pool. My regular reader(s) may recall that I have sort of a thing for small town swimming pools; I cannot explain what I had not stopped here before now.

To my credit, though, I did stop as soon as I thought about, well, stopping.

Incredible

The town’s visionary was so far ahead of the the food truck trend that their truck didn’t make it. I mean, I guess it didn’t make it, since it’s surrounded by weeds that have clearly had all summer to get this tall. That’s the downfall of being a visionary – sometimes you are just too far ahead for it to work.
