In spite of everything, they maintained an open-door policy

Our weekend place.

Sort of. It’s a place we call The Hut that came with a place we’ve got in the country. It’s not in good repair, as you can easily see, and one of these days it’ll fall all the way down. Until then, though, I’ll photograph it as I think of it. (Like here. And here. And here. And here. And here. And here. And here.)

Rear View

The canyon in front of me, the Plains to the back. And in between, what appears to be the world’s dirtiest windshield.

Week of Randomness: Tracery

This image is the perfect one to end the Week of Randomness. Here’s why:

  1. On trip to England last year, we decided to drive from our rental cottage over to Oxford.
  2. The traffic was terrible, and we got tired of not getting anywhere.
  3. So we took the first turn we came to.
  4. And ended up in Cirencester.
  5. Where we spotted a steeple and then (somehow!) a car park that was adjacent.
  6. And right there, inside the church, is where we ran into some friends from Texas.
  7. Who had stepped into the church on a whim.
  8. Random!

(Never made it to Oxford. We’ll do that on the next trip. Maybe.)

Week of Randomness: After Hours

A misty night and closed-for-the-night shops combined in a way that caught my attention.

And you know for sure that I liked it better this way than if it had been full of people cluttering up the place!

Week of Randomness: Fenceline

For reasons that were inexplicable and non-negotiable I decided that a driving trip from Lubbock to Denver would not include a single mile driven on a Interstate highway.

It takes me practically forever to get anywhere anyway (because: photography). Add that to the driving conditions (not all the roads were paved, for example), and I think our travel speed was somewhere in the covered-wagon range.

But I saw this.
